Brit couple stranded in Florida during Hurricane Milton reveal their survival plan

Journalist Ali Graves, 39, is currently in Orlando on holiday with husband Dion,45, and children Calvin, 16, Myles, 13 and Mila, ten.
She told how the anticipation of Milton was being handled.

Ali, who is staying at Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort, told the Express: “The general feeling is panic for the locals with homes, but for holidaymakers, it hasn’t been too bad.

“I think we’re all safe in the knowledge that hotels out here are really safe.

“Locals have told us that Universal and Disney hotels are the safest places we can actually be. “We’re all feeling fine – we’ve actually been out here during Hurricane Ian in 2022 too and again, staying at Universal, and it was insanely well organised.

“Lots of entertainment and a feeling of unity and group strength – plus lots of cocktails.”

Ali told how they had prepared ahead of the storm hitting Orlando.

She said: “We headed to Walmart last night after a day at Disney and picked up supplies – mainly for the kids – we’re lucky to be staying in a well-equipped hotel with plenty of food and drink provisions.

“The hotel is excellent at handling a storm.

“Extra character meet and greets for the children and lots of games, quizzes and fun to distract from what’s happening outside.

“The hotel has a large gym, bowling alley, and arcade, so the kids just see it as an added bonus to stay indoors and enjoy the facilities.”

Ali added: “The hotel must know the Brits are here – they’ve opened up extra bars.”

The Graves’ scheduled flight was set to return on Thursday.
