Brexit Party chair claims Tory MPs could DEFECT unless Boris delivers October EU exit

Mr Johnson has vowed Brexit will take place on October 31, regardless of whether a formal exit deal. However this could be blocked by opposition parties and rebel Tory backbenchers. Mr Tice, who founded the pro-Brexit group Leave Means Leave, claimed the Conservative Party will be “finished” if Mr Johnson misses his deadline.

He also suggested if this happens the Brexit Party would be ready to enter government.

Speaking to Express.co.uk Mr Tice said: “If the Conservatives do not deliver Brexit on October 31 and they have to go begging to the European Union for a third time, the Conservative Party then would be finished.

“Our phones would be red hot with furious Tory MPs saying ‘we want to come over to the Brexit Party’.

“We would then get ready to be the party of Government, no question at all.”

The Brexit Party, led by Nigel Farage, won the European Parliament elections in May with 31 percent of the vote.

Mr Tice also warned the Prime Minister against pushing an amended version of Theresa May’s withdrawal agreement.

He commented: “We will not accept a repackaged, reheated, reconstituted version of Theresa May’s worst deal in history.

“If Boris thinks that he can just tweak the backstop and then push it through forget it.

“We will fight him all the way to our very last breath because that would not be Brexit, that would be a complete betrayal of the huge opportunity that we have.

“There would be nothing worse than being half in, half out. Having no control, essentially being treated like slaves.”

If Parliament does block a no deal exit on October 31 it could trigger a General Election.

The Liberal Democrats have committed to another Brexit referendum, whilst Labour say they will push for a public vote on any Tory deal with remaining in the bloc as an option.

Mr Tice insisted the Brexit Party is ready for an electoral contest.

He asserted: “We’ve been spending the last few weeks over the summer period flat out working getting ready for an Autumn general election.

“We’re basically ready for a general election.

“We’ve got hundreds of really high quality candidates, we’ve been announcing them up and down the country.

“We’ve nominated seats, we’ve got more announcements to make.

“We’ve been investing in gearing up our campaign team, investing in some great technology for our ground campaign, there’s so much going on.

“We’re literally ready for anything that the elite political class try to throw at us and throw at the people.”

Mr Tice also claimed that if Mr Johnson fails to deliver Brexit on October 31 leading to a general election “we could win that general election”.
