Jennifer Lopez’s birthday was a big day for real estate for both her and reportedly estranged husband Ben Affleck.
Lopez finalized the sale of her New York City penthouse on July 24, the day she turned 55, which is the same day Affleck, 51, closed escrow on his new home across the country in Los Angeles, according to People.
Those deals come nearly two months after news that the couple was trying to sell their $60 million Beverly Hills mansion, amid reports they were “having issues” and living apart after less than two years of marriage.
Though insiders previously told TMZ the A-listers were seeking an estimated $65 million for the 12-bedroom home, the sprawling property was publicly listed for $68 million on July 11, per People.
Though Lopez has recently been seen hanging out with stepdaughter Violet, 18, the pop star’s birthday wasn’t the only milestone she and the “Good Will Hunting” writer-star spent apart this summer. They were reportedly on opposite coasts for the Fourth of July and their second wedding anniversary, both of which Lopez spent in the Hamptons, though she and Affleck have continued to publicly wear their wedding rings.
“Her summer isn’t exactly what she originally had planned, but she’s making the best of it,” a source told People.
The insider said Lopez is “always grateful for family time” — which she initially cited as the driving force behind her decision to cancel her “This Is Me…Live” tour in late May, just weeks before it was set to kick off in Miami in June. The canceled performances included two at Madison Square Garden.
Part of Lopez’s Affleck-free summer has included a late-June jaunt to Europe.
The day after her birthday, Lopez penned a lengthy Instagram shoutout to her fans, noting that they “are my biggest gift,” which seemed a pointed statement after her husband skipped out on the celebratory festivities.
“Besides my family and friends, you have always been there for me in the good times and in the tough times,” she continued. “I can always count on you. And I want you to know that you can always count on me. Thank you for your caring, your understanding, your loyalty and most importantly your love.”
