Shoppers have been left heartbroken as Joann fabrics eyes next month as the final one of its lifetime.
USA Today reports that 255 Joann stores will close by the end of April, which accounts for one-third of all of its spots.
By the end of May, the rest will be gone, too.
The writing has been on the wall for Joann for a while now, as it filed for bankruptcy twice in one year.
The second came in January of this year, just months after it had emerged as a private company and shaved off millions in debt.
But continued operational challenges continued to plague the company, including some serious supply issues.
Joann has been in business for 80 years and is leaving behind some heartbroken shoppers.
One person said: “Joann is the reason I was able to have a small part of my life be that of a designer/maker.
“It was the only accessible fabric store for millions of people. I’m, gutted.”
A second wrote on social media: “Joann fabrics is closing all stores and I’m so devastated like where am I supposed to buy fabric what am I supposed to do when on a random Saturday I decide to start a new project.”
And a heartbroken third fan commented: “Sad. I am a sewing fan, and Joann Fabrics has been one of the few such stores that have survived since 2019.
“Now, it appears this chain will disappear as well. Where will I get buttons?”
RECENT CLOSURES
The US Sun recently reported on nine more spots that closed won in recent days in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
For example, the store at the Village Mall in Methuen, Massachusetts, closed on Thursday, April 24.
A location in North Dartmouth closed on Sunday, April 27 and three stores in Leominster, Hyannis and Hadley closed Monday, April 28.
Meanwhile, in New Hampshire, the Joann spot West Lebanon Target plaza closed on Tuesday, April 22.
A location in Seabrook closed on Saturday, April 26.
But there are still some shops in these areas still open.
In Massachusetts, stores that will remain open for now can be found in Billerica, Burlington, East Walpole, Hanover, Ludlow, Middleton, Milford, Natick, North Attleboro, Pittsfield, Raynham, Saugus, Seekonk, Shrewsbury and Westford.
In New Hampshire, shoppers still have time to enjoy Joann spots, too.
These can be located in Concord, Nashua, Newington and Rochester.
CLOSING DOWN SALES
This leaves shoppers with one month left to make the most of the massive 70% closing down sales.
The US Sun also recently revealed that Joann is no longer accepting online orders due to high demand.
You cannot access any of the sales online anymore, and you will have to do it in store.
