To mark the occasion, Jon Kay and Sally Nugent took part in a special edition of Bargain Hunt.

The unexpected crossover aired as fellow Breakfast presenter Nina Warhust announced her departure.

The TV presenter, 44, has been working on the Beeb’s morning offering since 2018 as their resident business reporter.

However, she will be stepping down from that role at the end of the month.

Nina wrote on X: “Hanging up the high-viz & hairnet as I join the BBC’s News at One.

“Our London team built a gem of a programme & it’s a privilege to be on the Salford team taking it forward.

“The teenage me who lived half a mile from here & dreamed of journalism would NOT believe it.”

Meanwhile, Jon and Sally searched for antiques and hidden treasures in the crossover.

John Watson was at the helm, with seasoned Bargain Hunt expert Tim Weeks on hand to offer advice.

Among Jon’s haul was a £40 tea caddy set, as well as a £129 vintage Dinky Toy car.

Sally opted for a £19 coffee grinder and secured a large teapot commemorating the Queen‘s Golden Jubilee for a cool £5.

However, by the end, it was time to reveal which of the pair had emerged victorious.

John turned to the duo and asked: “How are you both feeling?”

As Sally confessed “Nervous, definitely nervous”, Jon added: “Exhausted. It’s tiring stuff.”

As the group laughed, John shared: “Well I can now reveal the results.

“Sally, you turned a profit of £51, which makes you the Bargain Hunt winner.”

Continuing, John revealed:  “The dinky toy and your tea caddy…”

Jon then pretended to storm off set as he said: “Okay good to see you all thank you I’m off.”

Who are the current presenters of BBC Breakfast?

The flagship BBC show has had dozens of presenters during its impressive 40 years on air but the current stars are:

The Bargain Hunt presenter added: “A loss I’m afraid to say of £104, which gives me the great honour Sally to award you with your £51 profit, which I know we are going to be giving to charity.”

Turning to Tim, John said: “You did say to yourself that actually this is the biggest loss you have ever seen in Bargain Hunt history.”

He explained: “Normally the contestants have to buy three items so I’m glad it was just two because it could’ve been a record the way you were going.”

Bargain Hunt and BBC Breakfast both air on BBC One and iPlayer.
