Banish mice and rats for £4 using 'most effective' hack that doesn’t harm them

Concerned about rodents in your house or garden but worried about exterminating them? A DIY enthusiast has shared how to make a humane trap for just £4.

Instead of spending a fortune on a fancy contraption, a man called Ben revealed how you can construct a trap using items you already have at home.

In an informational TikTok video, he told his 66,000 followers: “This is the most effective mouse trap. They go up this ramp towards a peanut butter covered bottle, which spins. They go up the ramp and fall into the bucket. You can then release them.”

The homemade trap can be re-used for months, which should hopefully help to banish rats and mice from your property in the long-run. So watch the video and read the simple tutorial below to get started…

More steps you should take to eliminate mouse and rat problems

It could also be worth taking more drastic measures if you have a persistent rodent problem. When you notice rats or mice, be sure to identify the source of the problem.

Inspect your home for gaps, cracks, and holes where the critters might enter, then seal them. These can be found around doors, windows, pipes, vents, and foundations.

Store food in airtight containers and clean up crumbs or spills immediately. You should also keep pet food and water stored overnight, take your bins out regularly and reduce clutter.

If traps are not effective, consider using rodent poison as a last resort. Utilise rodenticides carefully, following the manufacturer’s instructions, and keep them out of reach of children and pets.

If the problem persists despite your efforts, contact a pest control professional. They have the expertise and tools to address severe infestations effectively. Ask them about safe, environmentally friendly options if you’re concerned about toxins.

Then going forward, be sure to keep preventative measures maintained. Regularly inspect and repair your home to prevent rodents from returning, keep your garden tidy and your property clutter free.
