Banish grime on oven and baking trays and with 1 item that can be 'used for everything'

If you’ve got grimy pots, pans and baking trays, a cleaning fan has explained that the small but mighty dishwasher product can be used in a multitude of ways.

TikToker Georgia (@cleanwithgeorgiia) revealed that she uses dishwasher tablets to clean several items around the house, particularly two found in the kitchen.

In a recent video,Georgia used a dishwasher tablet to tackle the toughest grime and burnt on food on oven racks.

To complete the hack you’ll need to soak the oven rack in the sink – or in a receptacle which will fit the rack – and let a dishwasher pod dissolve. The oven rack should be left to soak before scrubbing off the grime.

They can also be used to clean grime off of baking trays. Georgia placed a dishwasher pod onto the tray and poured boiling water over the tablet to dissolve it.

She wrote: “Pov: you realise dishwasher pods do EVERYTHING.”

Georgia also showed off how she uses a dishwasher pod to clean drains. Placing a tablet in the sink’s plug hole, Georgia poured over boiling water from a kettle until the pod dissolved.

Georgia claimed that this hack will banish unpleasant smells from drains.

Georgia’s video has already been viewed over a massive 2.4million times, with a number of people sharing their own experiences completing the hack.

Laura said: “My husband is a chef. I put them in his laundry every week to remove grease and kitchen odors. It’s *chef’s kiss*. Pun intended.”

Country Mama wrote: “I never thought to clean the oven racks with them! I bet this would also work on the filter things on the stove hood!”

However, Tricia warned: “My plumber told me that even if they dissolve, that residual paste from capsules will stick on pipes and cause a lot of damage. We stopped using them.”

Allrecipes highlighted that dishwasher pods contain soap which has been specially formulated to tackle the toughest, and greasiest stains.

It explained that pods can be used to clean washing machines, toilets, stove tops, and even mugs.

When it comes to cleaning ovens in the proper way, it explained: “Remove the racks from your oven. Wearing rubber gloves, dip a dishwasher tablet into a bowl of hot water and then use the flat side to tackle baked-on food and other gunk.

“As you scrub, the tablet will break down and dissolve. Add water as needed to get a good lather. Eventually you may need a sponge to keep working, but soon the oven will be gleaming like new. Don’t forget the greasy oven door.”
