The wife and daughter of John Gotti Jr. are no longer facing assault charges after a judge dismissed their case on Tuesday.
Kimberly Gotti, 56, and her 25-year-old daughter Gianna were accused of attacking a woman at a high school basketball game in February on Long Island.
The Gottis said the other woman started the fight, and Junior Gotti claimed his wife was punched in the face but declined to press charges.
“The case against Kimberly and Gianna Gotti was dismissed today on procedural grounds. We await the judge’s written decision and will review our options,” a Nassau County district attorney spokesperson told WNBC.
Prosecutors failed to turn over evidence on time, according to WNBC. The Gottis had previously attempted to have the case dismissed on similar grounds.
Kimberly and Gianna Gotti allegedly got into an altercation while attending a Feb. 8 basketball game between Oyster Bay High and Locust Valley High. Joseph Gotti, John and Kimberly’s son, played for Oyster Bay High, which was the visiting team that night.
Parents and fans began shouting in the stands, with the ruckus escalating into a physical fight, according to police. A 48-year-old woman said Kimberly and Gianna Gotti pulled her hair and yanked her wig off.
Prior to Tuesday’s dismissal, the Gottis had already rejected two plea deals in the case, including one that would’ve sent them to anger management classes.
John Gotti Jr. is the son of John Gotti, the “Teflon Don.” He ran the Gambino family from 1992 to 1999 while his father was behind bars, and he served six years in prison. He beat four different racketeering cases between 2004 and 2009.
