APPLE users are in line to receive part of a $95 million payout from the tech giant to resolve claims Siri secretly recorded them within a ten-year time frame.

Payouts will be made per device – but users must submit a claim before the deadline in July to cash in.

The settlement benefits current and former owners of Siri-enabled devices, including iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, MacBook, iMac, HomePod, iPod touch and Apple TV who live in the US.

Eligible users have had their private communications obtained by Apple or shared with third parties due to unintended Siri activations between September 17, 2014 and December 31, 2024.

Payments of up to $20 per Siri device will be handed out by the tech giant to settle claims.

They agreed to a $95 million class action lawsuit settlement to resolve claims that Siri unintentionally recorded private conversations and shared them with third parties.

The plaintiffs in the class action lawsuit accused Apple of violating privacy laws by unintentionally activating Siri on its devices and recording private conversations, which were allegedly shared with third parties.

Apple has not admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to a $95 million settlement to resolve the allegations.

Class members who submit valid claims can receive up to $20 per Siri device.

Exact payments will vary depending on the number of claims and devices filed.

The deadline for exclusion and objection is July 2, 2025.

The final approval hearing for the Apple Siri settlement is August 1, 2025.

Big Payouts: Data Breach Settlement Explained

To receive settlement benefits, members must submit a valid claim form by July 2, 2025.

Meanwhile, Goodwill shoppers are in line to receive one-time payments worth up to $5,500 from a data breach settlement.

Metropolitan Employment and Rehabilitation Services, or MERS, Goodwill is a nonprofit operating under the larger Goodwill Industries International network.

It has recently agreed to a class action lawsuit settlement to resolve claims that a data breach in March 2023 put shopper information at risk, per the settlement website.

MERS Missouri Goodwill Industries failed to protect private consumer information, such as Social Security numbers, during the breach according to the class action lawsuit.

Class members must submit a valid claim form by July 7, 2025, in order to receive any benefits from the settlement.

What’s a class-action settlement?

Class action lawsuits offer groups of people, or ‘classes,’ a way to band together in court.

These suits are often brought by one or a few people who allege a company or other entity has wronged a large group of people.

When a suit becomes a class action, it extends to all “class members,” or people who may have similar complaints to those who filed the suit.

Companies often settle class actions – offering payment to class members who typically waive their right to pursue further legal action by accepting money.

These payout agreements frequently include statements by the defendant denying wrongdoing. Companies tend to settle class actions to avoid the costs of further litigation.

Pollution, discrimination, or false advertising are a few examples of what can land a class action on a company’s doorstep.
