AN ANONYMOUS Mega Millions player is still sitting on a winning ticket worth $10,000 – and time is running out to claim.

If the player does not come forward within the next few hours, the money will never be given out, and the moment will be gone.

WGXA reports that a player in the Mega Millions lotto is still sitting on the unclaimed ticket from the drawing on November 8, 2024.

It was purchased on Charleston Highway in West Columbia, South Carolina.

The slip matched four white ball numbers and the gold Megaball number to claim the impressive sum.

The winning numbers were 25, 28, 42, 64, 69 and Megaball 19.

But time is quickly running out for the ticket holder to come forward, and if they don’t, the money will never be theirs.

If unclaimed, the $10,000 will be deposited into the Education Lottery Account to support education programs in the state.

Mega Millions rules give players 180 days to come forward from the drawing date to claim their winnings.

This means that the deadline is set for Wednesday, May 7.

The unknown player has until 4pm to claim, by going in person to the Columbia Claims Center.

The other claim alternative is to mail in and have it postmarked by that date.

ANOTHER WINNER COMES FORWARD

The US Sun recently reported that a group of players in the Mega Millions came forward and claimed their massive $349 million prize.

After much anticipation from the March 25 draw date, the players in Illinois have shown themselves.

The ticket was bought at the Casey’s General Store in Cortland, a town roughly 65 miles west of Chicago.

The group of anonymous players matched all the Mega Millions numbers – 1, 5, 17, 39, 62 and 8 – to win.

They also paid $1 to add on the Megaplier feature and multiply their winnings.

The lucky winners, nicknamed “Blessed,” told Illinois Lottery officials: “We took a chance and bought a single ‘Quick Pick’ ticket.

“We’re absolutely ecstatic and feel incredibly blessed.

“We plan to use this money to do good. This unbelievable prize will truly be the gift that keeps on giving.”

Lucky lottery numbers – fact or fiction?

The U.S. Sun spoke exclusively with professor of mathematics at Davidson College, Tim Chartier, who revealed the truth behind lucky numbers.

Scooping up a jackpot prize in a lottery game such as Powerball or Mega Millions involves correctly guessing a series of numbers.

Many players swear by certain numbers, sticking with digits such as birthdays, anniversaries, or ages – but do these numbers statistically carry the luck that players believe they do?

According to Chartier, they do.

“I think a number is lucky if you have fun playing it and it improves your experience of winning,” he said.

“The big lotteries are, statistically speaking, a chance to dream of being a multi-millionaire or even billionaire. If playing a certain number heightens that experience, then yes!”

However, the lottery expert clarified that aside from the feel-good implications of playing your “lucky numbers,” no number is truly lucky when it comes to the lottery.

“All numbers are equally likely,” said Chartier.

He explained that even though all numbers are equally likely, some may seem to appear more often.

For example, rolling a six-sided die six times does not guarantee that you will roll each number exactly once.

And it really does seem to be just that, as the he store was given a $500,000 bonus for selling the lucky ticket.

During that specific run of the Mega Millions jackpot, almost $24 million in ticket sales was generated.

Out of that, $9 million was given to the  Illinois Common School Fund to support K-12 education, according to the state lottery.

But tickets have gone up in price from $2 to $5 from April 8.

It now does cost more to play the Mega Millions, but the revamped game offers better winning odds and more frequent prizes, according to officials.
