The Chiefs selected Josh Simmons, 22, with their first-round pick in the NFL Draft.
He was picked at No. 32 overall on Thursday night in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
Simmons officially put pen to paper on his Kansas City contract.
He signed a four-year deal worth $14.765 million.
The contract is fully guaranteed and comes with a fifth-year option.
The early move from the Chiefs puts to bed any uncertainty well before the 2025 season.
Simmons was labeled one of the steals of the NFL Draft after falling down to No. 32.
One said, “He will be a hall of famer.”
Another posted, “KC addressed a big need with drafting Simmons.”
A third wrote, “Could be a very good player.”
While a fourth commented, “Steal of the draft.”
Kansas City is desperate to win back the Super Bowl crown they lost to the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Chiefs were hammered 40-22 in Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans, Louisiana.
It dashed their hopes of a historic and unprecedented three-peat.
Reid has wasted no time in reshaping the team’s roster.
There have been big changes at the tight end position behind Travis Kelce.
“You’ll see Travis have more of an impact,” general manager Brett Veach told the Kansas City Star.
“Maybe it’s not in production but it’s the offense.”
He added, “The numbers won’t be the same.
“I mean, you have to acknowledge a certain aspect of that, right?
“I don’t know if I look at it in terms of expectations for yardage or touchdowns or catches.
“I think that when he’s on the field now, he makes us better.”
