Andy Murray's camp issue telling four-word message as Wimbledon looms after spinal surgery

Andy Murray has confirmed he is planning to “return to the court” after undergoing spinal surgery on Saturday. And the triple Grand Slam champion has insisted “no decisions” have been taken over if he will play Wimbledon or the Olympics.

A report on Sunday claimed the Scot, 37, will definitely miss The Championships – and this appeared to be confirmed by a tweet from the ATP.

But Murray’s furious management team got the posting taken down and the former world No.1 remains in the tournament. He is still desperate to play and wants to return to training by the end of the week in a last-ditch bid to make a farewell appearance at his home Grand Slam. Wimbledon starts next Monday (July 1).

He should make a decision over entering the singles by 10am on Friday – the time of the draw. Murray could then still play the men’s doubles with his brother Jamie starting on July 5.

The statement from Murray’s management team read: “Following his surgery on Saturday, Andy is continuing to work with his medical team to confirm when he will return to the court. At this stage, no decisions have been made and we will update further as soon as anything has been finalised.”
