Murray had an operation on a spinal cyst shortly after pulling out of the cinch Championships at Queen’s. According to The Telegraph, the recovery period is expected to be six weeks – effectively ruling him out of Wimbledon.
The Brit’s team has yet to confirm his withdrawal from the grass-court Grand Slam but with Wimbledon starting in eight days, it’s highly unlikely that Murray will be ready in time to compete.
Murray has been planning to hang up his racket this summer and recently admitted that he likely wouldn’t say farewell at the US Open or Davis Cup, meaning Wimbledon and the Olympics looked set to be his last tournaments.
