AMERICANS could cash in from a multi-million dollar data breach settlement – and only need a valid receipt to qualify.

A company called PostMeds Inc, which runs the online pharmacy Truepill.com, is handing out $7.5million to resolve the claims against it.

Class members allege that the firm is responsible for allowing a data breach in which customers’ details were compromised.

According to the lawsuit, PostMeds failed to take the necessary cybersecurity measures.

As a result, cyber criminals were able to gain access to the system and get hold of personal data, the suit says.

The data compromised in the breach could include social security numbers, birth dates, medical record numbers and health insurance information.

TruePill has opted to settle out of court with a financial payment.

It is not admitting any wrongdoing through the proceedings.

The settlement could benefit anyone who had their data compromised from the TruePill systems.

This must have happened within the window of August 30, 2023 to September 1, 2023.

Under the terms, class members can receive up to $4,000 as reimbursement for losses related to the data breach.

Customers can claim for losses due to fraud, identity theft damages, bank fees, credit card expenses, travel costs, communication charges and professional fees, amongst other categories.

Final 10 days to get one time checks between $10,000 to $48,000 from $92 million settlement – and no proof is needed

Proof of these losses will be required – and can records such as account statements, bills, receipts, invoices and professional letters.

On top of the loss reimbursement, eligible class members are entitled to one year of data protection and monitoring services.

Alternatively, they can opt for a cash fund payment – where they receive a pro rata share of the total settlement fund.

The size of these payments will depend on the number of claims filed and other factors.

Those class members who opt for the digital monitoring services will receive one year free protection from Financial Shield Complete and Medical Shield Complete from Cyex.

The deadline for exclusion and objection is April 12, 2025.

The final approval hearing for the settlement is scheduled for June 12, 2025.

Meanwhile, Americans are set to benefit from between $100 and $6,500 in another cybersecurity class action settlement.

The company LoanCare has agreed to pay out $5.9 million as part of a class action lawsuit.

With a bill being the only thing needed to prove eligibility, it doesn’t take much to grab as much of the cash as you can.
