Concerns about increased import taxation resulting in high costs on a variety of merchandise have been ongoing for months.

While there’s currently a 90-day pause on the global reciprocal tariffs announced by President Donald Trump last month for most countries, China still faces rates of up to 145%.
Amazon CEO Andy Jassy said that the e-commerce giant hasn’t seen a significant impact on prices yet, per a Thursday earnings call.
Jassy added that there have been trends of stocking up on essential items out of preparation due to the uncertain economic environment, more than anything.
He also emphasized that the company remains focused on keeping prices low and that tariffs could allow for “diversification” in product selection.
“You can bet there are things that we don’t anticipate,” Jassy said.
“Another thing that people forget, when you’ve got 2 million plus sellers, they’re not all going to end up taking the same strategy if there are higher tariffs.”
