The Heart Radio presenter took the opportunity to say congratulations to a close friend on Heart Breakfast today, revealing they had some joyful baby news. “I just wanted to I’ve a massive congratulations and shout out to a very close friend of mine,” Amanda Holden, 48, announced. “I might actually start crying,” she added, a tremble in her voice. “My lovely friend Mary and Stuart, her husband, have a lovely family, three kids, but Caroline, their eldest, who is 27, was born with cystic fibrosis.

“For her whole life, Mary and Stuart — and Caroline — have been a huge credit because they have never, ever let it hold her back,” Amanda continued, choking up.

She went on to say Caroline is often in and out of hospital due to her condition — where mucus builds up in the lungs an digestive system, causing trouble breathing and digesting food — married the love of her life a couple of years ago.

“On Friday she safely, thank goodness, gave birth to a little boy — sorry, it just really wells me up — called Henry John Darcy.”

Sounding overwhelmed with pride, the Heart Breakfast host praised: “And the fact that she’s got on with cystic fibrosis her whole life and now had a baby who, I’m sure we’ll find out today, is going to be clear of that illness.

“I just wanted to say, there is hope out there for anybody suffering from anything,” she told listeners, as her co-star Jamie Theakston, 48, sat quietly, taking in her story.

“If you’re told you can’t do something, don’t listen. Keep going on. If you’ve got amazing parents like Mary and Stuart then you’re always going to be fine.

“It’s just such a lovely story,” Amanda added, starting to cry.

“I’m so sorry!” she concluded, laughing as she sniffed, clearly emotional.

“Well done Caroline,” Jamie chipped in.

“You’ve set me off, you’ve got me going!” he told Amanda, also sounding touched by the news.

A clip of the sweet story, which was shared with Heart’s 139,000 Twitter followers, showed the Britain’s Got Talent judge trying to compose herself at the end, wiping away tears.

Amanda joined the Heart Radio team earlier this month and has been friends with Jamie for a long time.

At the time, she shared her excitement for her new role, saying: “It feels incredible surreal to be announced as the new national Breakfast co-presenter alongside the fab Jamie Theakston.

“Jamie and I go back more years than I can remember so I have no doubt that working with him will be hilarious for everyone.

Last week, Heart host Amanda Holden was branded “filth” by Zoe Ball, 48, after she quizzed Pointless presenter Alexander Armstrong, 49, about his singing career.

On the subject of performing alongside Josh Groban, 38, at the London Palladium, Alexander said: “Only annoying thing was, I didn’t get to sing until the end of the night and I had been hosting the show, I had been barking all day.”

“Were you spent?” Amanda asked.

“I was spent, I was a husk,” he replied.

“Were you a bit dry?” she questioned the BBC star, before Zoe chimed in: “For some reason, when you say something like that it just sounds filth, Amanda.”

Giggling, Amanda admitted: “Everyone calls me Carry on Mandy.”
