Air fryer doughnut bites are 'delicious' and made with just three ingredients

Air fryers have become a staple kitchen appliance and one that’s garnered a mass following online.

One Facebook group, Easy Air Fryer Recipes for Beginners has attracted thousands of posts with air fryer fans sharing their creations, including these doughnut bites.

Sharing a post on the page, the recipe creator described the sweet bites as “a cross between a regular doughnut and cake like texture” with a crispy exterior.

They branded the bite-size treats as “delicious” and revealed the simple three-ingredient formula they used to make them.

The clever twist is that bananas are used to substitute the need for moist ingredients like eggs and butter.

How to make doughnuts in an air fryer

Peel the bananas and roughly break them into a bowl. Take a fork and mash until very smooth.

Add the vanilla extract and stir in the flour to form a thick dough. More flour can be added if it’s too sticky, but avoid adding too much by doing it a little at a time.

Shape the dough into small balls to form the bite-size doughnuts then spray a small circular dish or tray that can be used in the air fryer.

Cook at 200C for eight to 10 minutes, turning the doughnuts halfway through to ensure even cooking.

Once cooked, brush the doughnut bites with melted butter and roll in a mixture of ground cinnamon and sugar (3/4 teaspoon cinnamon to one teaspoon sugar). Enjoy warm for the best results.

The recipe was a hit with fellow air fryer users including one who commented that the sweet treats are “popular in the Pacific Islands”.

Another person wrote “looks delicious” while a third chimed: “These will be a perfect addition to a dessert night I’m going to…”
