Aaron Rodgers’ ‘dramatic’ impact on Pittsburgh Steelers laid bare by NFL insider who reckons Mike Tomlin ‘is not OK’

THE Pittsburgh Steelers have an almost entirely new offense for the 2025 season.

Outside of one returning tight end, the Steelers have replaced nearly every skill player on their offense.

The Steelers have been stuck in mediocrity for multiple years, making it to the playoffs but getting bounced in the first round.

NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport reported on Wednesday that Mike Tomlin isn’t pleased with this and is making aggressive moves to change it.

“They are not ok,” Rapoport said.

“Mike Tomlin is not ok, Omar Khan is not ok, the Steelers are not ok.”

Rapoport cited the moves that the Steelers made this offseason, including the recent trade of George Pickens and allowing Najee Harris to walk in free agency.

Pittsburgh also traded for wide receiver DK Metcalf from the Seattle Seahawks.

“Look at what they did this offseason,” he continued.

“Every important piece of their offense, besides Pat Freiermuth, is gone.

“George Pickens, their top receiver? Gone. Najee Harris, their starting running back? Gone. Russell Wilson and Justin Fields, their two quarterbacks… they’re both gone.

“The Steelers clearly decided that this was not good enough. This was not good enough.

“They wanted to get better, changed out several key pieces of their personnel, and they will go about 2025 hoping for better results.”

The only thing the Steelers are waiting on now is an answer from Aaron Rodgers.

He has still yet to confirm if he will be joining the Steelers or not, but if he decides not to retire it is almost certain that he will play in Pittsburgh.

“Now, we don’t know who their quarterback is going to be,” Rapoport said.

“Presumably that would be Aaron Rodgers, that is what they think and believe.

NFL important dates 2025 season

March 12 – Free Agency begins

April 24-26 – NFL Draft in Green Bay, Wisconsin

September 4 – 2025 season opener (TBC vs Eagles)

November 27 – Thanksgiving Day triple header

January 4, 2026 – End of regular-season

February 8, 2026 – Super Bowl LX at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California

“But as of this very moment we don’t know if he’s going to play for the Steelers or if he’s going to retire. Those seem to be the two options.

“If they get that locked in, it will be a dramatically different offense from last season.”

There is no telling how the Steelers will perform in 2025 with their new-look offense.

A lineup consisting of Rodgers, Metcalf, rookie running back Kaleb Johnson, and Freiermuth could be scary.

However, it will all hinge on if Rodgers decides to play.
