Burger King‘s latest attempt to break the internet won’t break the bank: The fast food chain is selling its signature Whopper sandwich for a dollar.
In celebration of the million “Whopper-fanatics” who submitted ideas for a reimagined sandwich, the company announced the sale of one million whoppers for $1 starting Tuesday.
But the offer is only for members of its Royal Perks loyalty program who participated in the Million Dollar Whopper Contest held earlier this year on its BK app. Another caveat: $1 Whoppers are limited to one per customer.
However, starting Nov. 14, everyone can try, and vote for, three guest-created quarter pound beef sandwiches that landed as finalists for a $1 million grand prize.
The first, a Fried Pickle Ranch Whopper, is topped with creamy pickle ranch, lettuce, fried pickles, bacon and Swiss cheese.
The second is a Maple Bourbon BBQ Whopper with maple bourbon BBQ sauce, crispy onions and jalapeños, maple-candied bacon and American cheese.
The last is the Mexican Street Corn Whopper, which has a “creamy street corn spread,” lettuce, tomato, tortilla strips and queso.
The custom creations will be offered at participating Burger King restaurants nationwide for a limited time.
“We couldn’t think of any better way to recognize and celebrate our biggest Whopper lovers than with a special offer that lets everyone feel like a winner,” Burger King chief marketing officer Pat O’Toole said in a statement. “We can’t wait to hear how Guests think these three new creations stack up to the classic and look forward to them ultimately crowning the winner of the $1 million grand prize.”
