Five victims of a shooting near Florida A&M University have been released from the hospital, while six others remain hospitalized, including one in critical condition, Tallahassee police announced Sunday morning.

The updated conditions come hours after gunfire erupted near the university’s Bragg Memorial Stadium on Saturday night, leaving 12 people injured, including six children. Of those injured, authorities said 11 sustained gunshot wounds.

Police said they are continuing to investigate the shooting and will provide additional updates as information becomes available.

Six victims were adults and six were juveniles, with the youngest just 11 years old, Tallahassee Police Chief Lawrence E. Revell said during a Saturday night news conference.

Investigators said preliminary information suggests a physical altercation involving two or three individuals broke out before the gunfire.

The shooting occurred during Florida A&M University’s homecoming weekend, as students and alumni gathered in Tallahassee for the annual celebrations.

Lt. Gov. Jay Collins asked for prayers for the victims and the community in a social media post.

“My heart goes out to the victims and families impacted by the shooting near FAMU,” Collins wrote on X. “Knowing children were among those injured makes this even more heartbreaking.”

No arrests have been announced as of the latest police update.
