Teen Mom’s Bar Smith moved to California jail on warrant in gun case after serving time for kidnapping ex Ashley Jones

TEEN Mom’s Bar Smith has been transferred to a California jail to face a warrant on gun charges after he served time for kidnapping his estranged wife Ashley Jones.

The U.S. Sun can exclusively reveal that former Teen Mom star Bar, 28, was picked up by California authorities on March 12, after he was released from the Clark County Detention Center in Las Vegas.

A Clark County clerk told The U.S. Sun: “He had a fugitive case out of California. They came to get him.”

As of March 13, Bar is listed as an inmate in a local California sheriff’s facility in connection to a warrant on gun charges.

Bar was most recently arrested in Nevada in July 2024 and accepted a plea deal last month after serving seven months in jail for an attack on Ashley, 27, at her Las Vegas home.

Court records reveal that on February 28, Bar entered a plea to a misdemeanor charge of battery constituting domestic violence in connection to the frightening July 7 incident, during which he “willfully and unlawfully used force or violence” against Ashley and “barricaded doors and prevented” her from leaving.

The former Teen Mom star entered what is known as a nolo contendere plea, commonly referred to as a no contest plea.

This type of plea means Bar did not admit guilt or dispute the charges but agreed to accept the court’s punishment.

As part of the court’s decision, the MTV alum was sentenced to six months in the Clark County Detention Center and one year of probation.

As previously reported by The U.S. Sun, the incident occurred after Bar reportedly saw Instagram photos of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter star Ashley with her new boyfriend, prompting him to cross state lines for what police described as a frightening confrontation.

Bar was initially charged with several felonies including second-degree kidnapping, coercion constituting domestic violence and residential burglary constituting domestic violence.

Police records obtained by The U.S. Sun state that Bar was arrested and faced multiple felony charges following the altercation with Ashley.

CALIFORNIA WARRANT

Before his run-in with Nevada authorities, Bar was already in hot water with California cops after he discharged a firearm at Ashley’s college graduation party in the state in 2021.

Bar had a warrant out for him for not showing up to court for the charges connected to that incident.

The incident played out during the season finale of Teen Mom 2 in 2021.

Ashley, Bar, their friends and family came together for a celebration that featured plenty of drinking and heartfelt toasts honoring the TV star.

However, the Teen Mom 2 finale took a dramatic turn after the festivities spiraled out of control, ending with Bar firing a gun.

While cameras were not rolling when the incident occurred, text displayed onscreen explained: “The MTV crew left the party at 9pm. Later that night, police received a call that gunshots were fired. No injuries were reported.

“Bar was arrested for willful discharge of a firearm in a negligent manner.”

Earlier in the episode, Bar had told Ashley that he spent 15 days in county jail due to a prior DUI arrest.

Although Ashley wasn’t pleased with the situation, she shared in a confessional that she wouldn’t let Bar’s legal troubles overshadow her reason to celebrate.

BAR’S ARREST

The U.S. Sun exclusively revealed that Bar was taken into custody in May of that year, though it wasn’t initially clear the incident had occurred at Ashley’s party.

According to a police report shared by the Instagram account TeenMom.Tea, Bar was arrested for “willful discharge of firearm in negligent manner” at 9:35 AM on May 16.

In September 2022, MTV blended their long-running shows Teen Mom OG and Teen Mom 2 to one series following the young mothers’ experiences raising their kids and co-parenting with their baby dads. Here’s a list of the entire Teen Mom: The Next Chapter cast.

The U.S. Sun confirmed Bar’s arrest, noting that he was released from jail the following day.

Ashley and Bar are parents to their daughter, Holly.

Less than a month after the harrowing alleged kidnapping ordeal, Ashley formally filed for divorce on August 1, 2024.

However, the divorce was later dismissed after both parties failed to attend a hearing late last year.
