Matthew Perry’s family speaks out on anniversary of his death

The family of former “Friends” star Matthew Perry are “thrilled” the people who provided the actor with the drug blamed for his death are facing justice.

“I’m thrilled,” Perry’s mother Suzanne Morrison said about the March 2025 trial date set for “Ketamine Queen” Jasveen Sangha and a physician tied to the actor’s death one year ago Monday. Three people have pleaded guilty.

Morrison, Perry’s stepfather Keith Morrison and the sitcom star’s two sisters talked to “Today” about the 54-year-old actor’s death, which was attributed to a ketamine overdose. He was found lifeless in his hottub.

Keith Morrison said charges against the handful of people accused of enabling the addiction-prone star sends a message to others who profit from exploiting people who trust them.

“It doesn’t matter what your professional credentials are,” he said. “You are going down, baby.”

Perry’s family told “Today” they were split on whether Perry was aware his grasp on sobriety was slipping before his death. Suzanne Morrison recalled a seemingly happy Perry expressing gratitude for having a great relationship with her shortly before his death.

“It was almost as though it was a premonition or something,” Perry’s mom said. “I didn’t think about it at the time, but I thought, ‘How long has it been since we have had a conversation like that?’”

The defendants in Perry case could be handed long prison sentences if convicted.

Perry’s 2022 memoir candidly details his battle with drugs and alcohol, according to NBC News.

“My friends call me Matty,” the prolog reads. “And I should be dead.”

He writes about one 2019 experience with opioids that Perry said left him with a “2-percent chance” to survive.

Perry played “Friends” jokester Chandler Bing from 1994 to 2004. He claimed there were several seasons of the hit NBC show he couldn’t remember because of his substance abuse issues.
