Stop mould growing in your home with one tip recommended by experts

As winter draws closer and the temperatures drop, the problem of mould begins to rise.

It’s a common issue in British homes and can cause all kinds of issues, including respiratory problems.

That’s why it’s crucial to do as much as you can to prevent mould from growing in your home.

Luckily, there’s a few simple tips you can take on which will help to keep your home warm, dry and mould free.

With there being over 41,000 searches in the last month alone for ‘how to get rid of mould’, experts at online home store, Wayfair UK, have revealed their top tips to prevent mould growth in your home over the next few months.

The first one is simple.

Make sure your furniture is pushed away from the walls to stop damp accumulating.

Moisture can get trapped behind your furniture, and without proper ventilation and airflow, the moisture can create mould and mildew on your furniture.

Simply moving your furniture an inch away from the wall can create enough airflow to minimise the formation of mould within your home.

The other way you can keep mould at bay is by ventilating your space.

Although it might seem counter productive in the depths of winter, it’s important to crack a window at least twice a day to allow fresh air in.

Cracking open a window, especially in areas of high humidity such as bathrooms and kitchens, allows the moisture to escape, minimising moisture and mould in your home – doing this twice a day is advised.

If you notice condensation building up on your windows and window sills don’t sit and stare at it. Make sure you wipe it up as soon as you notice it.
