Woman, 56, dies in Queens house fire



A 56-year-old woman died in a fire that tore through a Queens home Thursday morning, officials said.

The blaze broke out on the second floor of the two-story home on Hollis Ave. at the corner of 109th Ave. in St. Albans about 8:30 a.m.

Responding firefighters found the woman unconscious inside the home, police said.

The woman died at the scene. Her name was not immediately released.

More than 60 firefighters and EMS members arrived at the scene, putting the blaze out within 45 minutes.

No other injuries were reported.

FDNY Fire Marshals are working to determine what sparked the fire.
