Remove shoe and clothing stains 'instantly' with £2 bathroom staple fans hail 'the best'

Clothing stains can be a nightmare to remove, especially if you don’t have a specific product designed to banish unsightly marks.

Stains can also be troublesome to remove from shoes, including suede, which can pick up mucky marks easily.

If you want to avoid shoving all stained items into the washing machine, you can remove marks with a wallet-friendly item you might find in your bathroom.

One solution was shared by a cleaning fan, which will cost you as little as £2.

The nifty hack was shared on Instagram by cleaning fan Chantel Mila Ibbotson, also known as @mama_mila_au, who used a cosmetic staple to banish tough stains.

Micellar water may be a mainstay in your skincare routine but it can also double as a cleaning product when you’re in a bind. In a part of her home hacks series, Chantel explained that micellar water can be used to help remove tough stains.

In a video from September, she said: “Remove stains on suede using micellar water, and it also removes make-up stains from clothes instantly.”

She demonstrated how simple the trick was: simply apply a generous amount of micellar water to a clean cotton pad or reusable makeup pad, then rub the micellar water on the stain. Just like that, the stain should vanish.

Chantel’s video has been viewed more than 1.4 million times, receiving 15,100 likes and 74 comments.

Cleaning fans were baffled by the blogger’s hack, with @simplecasita saying: “Micellar water, who knew.”

@artfinderaustralia wrote: “Micellar water makeup wipes are fantastic at cleaning sneakers! I dropped a lipstick brush with red lipstick on brand new cream suede sambas and thought I’d trashed them, one quick wipe and they were like new!”

@joeades29 commented, “The Micellar water on suede trick is THE best. Used it when someone stood on my brand new sambas,” while @brenndabatista agreed, “Micellar water on suede. Amazing, thank you!!!”

@missstheodora said: “Great tips! Don’t think I’d want to be using micellar water on my skin given its cleaning capabilities but certainly be buying it now for all those other uses!”

HowStuffWorks also explained that micellar water can be used to clean stains on rubber shows.

However, if you have a stain made by oil, micellar water won’t work.
