A Haverford College professor was arrested Tuesday and charged with federal cyberstalking after allegedly sending dozens of antisemitic threats to a colleague in Pennsylvania, prompting the college to bar him from campus, more than two years after Jewish students accused the same professor of making threatening statements about supporters of Israel in a separate lawsuit against the school.

Haverford College President Wendy Raymond addressed the arrest of religion professor Guangtian Ha in a statement provided to Fox News Digital by a college spokesperson.

“I am heartbroken and furious at the possibility that an individual within our community would seek to inflict such pain on another,” Raymond said. “This disturbing news is made even more harmful for many given its proximity to both the Jewish High Holidays and the third anniversary of the October 7 attacks.”

According to a federal indictment, Ha allegedly used at least four anonymous X accounts to send approximately 50 threatening messages to a Jewish colleague between October 2025 and May 2026.

Prosecutors alleged that Ha posted the colleague’s home address, referenced the colleague’s children and made statements invoking the Holocaust. The colleague’s spouse and three children temporarily left their home twice because of the threats, according to The Philadelphia Inquirer.

The arrest follows earlier allegations against Ha that were included in a 2024 antisemitism lawsuit against Haverford College. In a January 2025 amended complaint, Jewish students accused Ha of publishing hostile social media posts about supporters of Israel, including one in which he allegedly said he knew their identities.

The complaint reproduced a statement attributed to Ha targeting people within his Haverford community who remained silent about, or supported, what he characterized as genocide.

“I will never forgive them,” Ha said, according to the complaint. “I know their names and I know their faces. Never forgive. No reconciliation.”

The plaintiffs alleged that Ha’s remarks were threatening and that college administrators had been informed of his posts by September 2024. They further alleged that Haverford had taken no effective action against him at the time of the January 2025 filing.

The earlier lawsuit did not establish that Ha engaged in unlawful conduct, and the allegations in that case are distinct from the federal cyberstalking charge.

Raymond said the college had placed Ha, who was already on sabbatical and not teaching during the academic year, on administrative leave pending the criminal proceedings over the “heinous online attacks.”

“I am deeply distressed by these allegations and want to state in the plainest of terms that any form of harassment or discrimination based on identity is unacceptable, antithetical to our values, and has no place at Haverford,” Raymond said.

WEAPONIZING THE CHARGE OF GENOCIDE FUELS AN INCREASINGLY DANGEROUS ANTISEMITISM

The arrest came just two months after Haverford settled the lawsuit brought by Jewish members of its community over allegations that administrators failed to adequately address antisemitic harassment following Hamas’ Oct. 7, 2023, terrorist attacks against Israel.

As part of the August settlement, the college committed to annual antisemitism awareness training, revisions to campus policies and the creation of a committee to address antisemitism. A federal judge had previously dismissed the plaintiffs’ Title VI discrimination claim while allowing a breach-of-contract claim to proceed.

Raymond also acknowledged the involvement of federal and local authorities in investigating the allegations against Ha.

“I also want to thank the FBI, Haverford Township Police Department, and Campus Safety for aiding in the investigation,” Raymond said.
