FOX News Media CEO Suzanne Scott rang the Closing Bell on Tuesday at Nasdaq MarketSite in New York City as the company celebrates Fox News Channel’s 30th anniversary.

Fox News Channel debuted on Oct. 7, 1996, and original hosts Lauren Green, Trace Gallagher, Steve Doocy and Brit Hume were in attendance, alongside FOX News Media President and Executive Editor Jay Wallace and other 30-year employees who are now at the executive level, to help Scott celebrate three decades since they helped launch the network.

“It’s a tremendous honor to be here at NASDAQ as we celebrate a remarkable milestone, 30 years of Fox News,” Scott said when delivering remarks before ringing the bell.

“Three decades ago, Fox Corporation Chairman Emeritus Rupert Murdoch launched Fox News with an ambitious idea to give audiences another voice in the national conversation and to build a news organization that provided balance to all Americans,” Scott continued. “Thirty years later, his vision has grown from one linear network to a multi-platform powerhouse of digital, streaming, audio, books and beyond, made possible by the leadership of Fox Corp Executive Chair and Chief Executive Officer Lachlan Murdoch.”

Scott noted that FOX News Media platforms have an enduring connection with the audience and reach over 200 million people on a monthly basis.

“Milestones like this are about recognizing the people behind our success, the journalists, producers, technicians, correspondents, executives, and countless colleagues who show up every day with inspiring skill, energy, determination, and a genuine commitment to their craft,” Scott said.

“And they are about the viewers who have welcomed Fox News Channel into their homes, their workplaces, and their daily lives as we meet them wherever they are,” Scott added. “So today, as we celebrate 30 years of stories reported and analyzed, and history witnessed at each turn, we also look ahead because the next chapter of media is being shaped right now by new technology, new platforms, and new ways of connecting with audiences.”

Scott, who joined Fox News in its inaugural year of 1996 and was recently inducted into the Broadcasting+Cable Hall of Fame, held several production and creative positions before taking over as CEO in 2018. Under her leadership, Fox News has dominated cable ratings and regularly beats broadcast networks.

“On behalf of everyone at Fox News Media, thank you to all of our viewers and to all of our colleagues who made all of this possible. And now, with great pride and gratitude, we celebrate 30 years of Fox News Channel,” Scott said to wrap up her remarks.

Scott was then surrounded by longtime colleagues to officially halt transactions for the day as Fox News-themed red, white and blue confetti rained down.

The iconic Closing Bell, which ends market trading, has been rung by influential figures ranging from Jeff Bezos and Oprah Winfrey to Michael Jordan. Nasdaq Executive Vice President Jeff Thomas presented Scott with a Closing Bell crystal prior to the ceremony, calling FOX News Media “one of the most recognized and influential media brands in the world.”

As part of Scott’s ongoing efforts to expand across platforms, Scott launched FOX News Books in 2020 and also spearheaded the brand refresh of FOX News Digital, FOX News Audio and FOX Business. She has also created three new streaming offerings, the subscription-based FOX Nation in 2018 and FOX News International in 2020, and FOX Weather in 2021.
