The latest scandal to rock the WNBA has made the rounds all throughout social media and the internet.
A’Ja Wilson, the four-time WNBA MVP, was involved in an altercation with a fan during the Las Vegas Aces’ playoff matchup with the Indiana Fever, and her reaction has everyone buzzing.

The Aces center took exception to a man in the front row pointing at her after she committed a foul, marching toward him before being restrained by officials.

Wilson was assessed a technical foul and the fan was later cleared of any wrongdoing, but public reaction is split on whether he was in the right for his actions.
OutKick’s very own Craig Carton weighed in on the situation, and as you can expect, he had some harsh words for Wilson and the WNBA in general.
“What did the guy do,” Carton asks. “Was he being a toxic masculine figure?”
As Carton points out, the guy is just out with his wife or girlfriend, trying to enjoy a WNBA game, and is getting vilified for having the audacity to point at Wilson.

“The crazy thing about this is the guy did nothing wrong,” he explains. “They review the videotape and despite the announcers that are broadcast the game saying he must have said something racist, he must be a racist, he must be a race baiter, or he said something offensive, none of that was true.”
It’s worth pointing out that this man spent his hard earned money to sit on the floor of a WNBA game, which wouldn’t be something a racist would do, a point Carton agrees with.

“Well, he’s not a racist. That’s why he’s there. He’s trying to enjoy the sport that he hears a lot about.”
This is just the latest in a long list of examples of the WNBA alienating the fans that continue to show up despite the league’s best efforts to ostracize them.
“This is what the WNBA does they eat their own,” Carton said. “The WNBA has gotta be the most incompetent league on the planet. It’s a circus. It’s a sideshow.”
“You want more of those guys,” he continues. “You can’t attack that guy into the silly phrase of oh that’s toxic masculinity. No, that’s called a good fan. You need more of those people, not less of those people.”

The Fever would go on to win the game 99-89 to tie the series and force a win-or-go-home scenario on Thursday, but as Carton says, no one cares about that.

“Once again nobody’s discussing what happened on the court. I can tell you as I sit here right now, I couldn’t tell you who won the game. I have no idea who won the game. I also don’t care. But it’s another example of this league not being able to get out of its own way.”
