Texas mom Suzanne Simpson missing after dinner club party, husband arrested

A search was underway in Texas on Friday for Suzanne Clark Simpson, a mother and luxury real estate agent, who disappeared after a party at a private dinner club over the weekend.

Simpson went missing late Sunday night near Trinity University in San Antonio following a physical altercation with her husband, Brad Simpson, the Texas Department of Public Safety said in a Clear Alert for missing adults.

Earlier in the evening, Simpson attended a birthday party at the Argyle, a ritzy members-only event venue in Alamo Heights, KSAT reported.

During a news conference on Thursday, Olmos Park Police Chief Fidel Villegas shared images of a woman believed to be Simpson outside the dinner club, dressed to the nines in a fitted black dress and nude heels.

“That night, we think she was in distress,” Villegas told reporters.

“She may be somewhere, and we just don’t know about it,” the police chief continued. “It’s very suspicious, though, that, obviously, she’s not going to work, and she’s not checking in on her children.”

When Simpson returned from the party to her home in Olmos Park — a municipality in San Antonio on the city’s Northside — an argument allegedly broke out between her and her husband.

One of their neighbors, who was not identified, later told police he heard the couple fighting outside his window between 10 and 11 p.m. He said it looked like Simpson “was attempting to get away from Mr. Simpson’s grasp as he tried to pull her downwards,” according to an affidavit cited by My San Antonio.

It appeared Brad Simpson “was clearly attempting to keep Ms. Simpson from running away,” the neighbor added, per the affidavit.

After a brief struggle, he said he watched the couple head west, and heard two or three screams shortly thereafter. That’s when he grabbed his flashlight and attempted to locate the pair, but to no avail.

A little while later, the neighbor said he spotted Brad Simpson drive off in his 2019 GMC pickup truck and then return after several hours away.

Brad Simpson reported his wife missing on Monday, but police were not notified of the altercation between the couple until 24 hours later. Villegas said until that point, they’d been treating the case as a standard missing person investigation.

On Wednesday, police arrested 53-year-old Brad Simpson, though Villegas noted the charges are not related to his wife’s disappearance. He’s facing a pair of counts, including assault causing bodily injury to a family member and unlawful restraint. His bond was set at $2 million because “he may be a danger to” his missing wife, Villegas said. He added that Brad Simpson has also been “uncooperative” with authorities and their investigation.

Police have asked residents who might have seen a 2019 black GMC Sierra pickup truck around the time of Simpson’s disappearance to contact the Olmos Park Police Department.
