'I tried Tesco's new Finest range with one item standing out and it was only £1.50'

Tesco launched its new Finest Steakhouse range last week which will see various products available across 150 stores in England and Wales. The supermarket chain said the new range would help customers recreate the luxury steakhouse experience at home.

Prices of the Finest Steakhouse range from £1.50 going up to £43 per kg, catering to customer’s different budgets. Items such as single and sharing steaks, alternative mains and a range of tempting sides were on offer as part of Tesco’s 23 new food products.

Highlights include indulgent premium cut-sharing steaks, such as T-bone, bone-in sirloin, Flat Iron and Cote du Boeuf, while the single steaks include salt-aged rump, sirloin, ribeye and thick-cut fillet.

The steaks are all British Aberdeen Angus and dry-aged for up to 35 days for maximum tenderness. They are also hand-trimmed by expert butchers, highlighting the importance of Tesco’s aim to celebrate the best of British meat and butchery.

Of course, when many Brits go to visit a top-quality steakhouse there are plenty of other options on the menu. For those who aren’t in the mood for a steak, Tesco’s new range is no exception, with alternative mains including Wagyu burgers, duck breast supremes, slow-cooked Ossobuco, pork belly and smoky beef ribs.

I got to try an array of different items from the supermarket chain including the smoky beef ribs which were tender, juicy and simply fell off the bone when tucking into the item.

Meanwhile, the pork belly which is priced at £10 for Tesco Clubcard holders was moist with the right amount of crackling that is hard to say no to.

The slow-cooked Ossobuco was another true highlight of the range which also came in at a reasonable £10 for Clubcard holders. Osso Bucco came with a bone marrow gravy and gremolata crumb and is definitely worth the price thanks to its melt-in-the-mouth beef and delicious gravy.

However, it was the steak butter which was a standout item from the new Tesco Finest range. In case you haven’t tried truffle butter where have you been? The distinctive taste may be a Marmite situation of whether you love it or hate it but for me, I couldn’t get enough of the item.

Priced at an affordable £1.50, the truffle butter with cracked black pepper elevated the dishes and could be enjoyed without the need for steak. Customers should simply try the butter on toast or pair it with some cheese and crackers to understand how delicious it tastes.

Other sides also included in the range are triple-cooked chips, rarebit dauphinoise potatoes and truffle mac & cheese all offering indulgence to a home-cooked meal.

Looking online customers will find many of the new products are sold out online and you can certainly see why thanks to its affordable yet delicious items on offer. But fear not the supermarket chain will have the items back in stock for foodies to enjoy we may just have to patiently wait.
