An 82-year-old woman mercilessly shoved onto the tracks at a Queens subway station by an ex-con suffered serious head and back injuries requiring surgery, prosecutors revealed Wednesday.
During the Oct. 2 assault, the woman was shoved into a gap between two train cars and the tracks, prosecutors said.
“Yeah that’s me. That’s me on the platform,” suspect Harris Brandon, 35, told police after being shown footage of him in a pair of brown shorts at the scene of the crime, according to the criminal complaint against him.
“I pushed her. I am just gonna say I pushed her. I just want to say sorry.”
The octogenarian hit her head on both train cars as she fell, suffering a deep gash to her head that needed three staples to close, according to the complaint.
She also suffered bleeding on the brain and broke two disks in her spine, which needed surgery to repair, prosecutors said.
Medics rushed the woman to New York-Presbyterian Hospital Queens, where she’s expected to recover.
The extent of the woman’s injuries surfaced as prosecutors were set to arraign ex-con Harris Brandon, who was arrested Monday for allegedly shoving the woman off the platform at the Flushing-Main St. station.
Cops charged Brandon with attempted murder and assault.
Harris was hospitalized following his arrest, delaying his arraignment Wednesday in Queens Criminal Court.
He has a criminal record that includes seven prior arrests — two of which were for public lewdness, police said. In 2016, Harris was sentenced for two years in prison after being convicted on an attempted robbery charge.
He was released in 2018 and his parole ended in 2020, state records show.
