Premium Bond winners revealed for October 2024 with £1 million jackpots – how to check

Premium Bond winners for October have been announced with the £1 million jackpots going to Derbyshire and Gloucestershire.

National Savings and Investment (NS&I) released details this morning along with details of the value of the Premium Bonds held by the holders of the winning bonds

The first winner from Derbyshire had the bond number 535MK963637 and held some £40,000 in Premium Bonds.

The second Premium Bond winner to claim the life-changing windfall of £1 million is from Gloucestershire with bond number 203JB525288. The winner was holding £25,000 in Premium Bonds.

Every month only two winners take home £1 million but plenty of other prizes are available, with 71 people winning the second prize of £100,000 and 141 claiming £50,000.

The £100,000 winners included someone from Oxfordshire who held just £25 in Premium Bonds. Another from outer London held a relatively modest holding of £500.

Premium Bonds are the UK’s biggest savings product, with more than 24 million people saving over £122 billion in them, according to Money Saving Expert.

Prize draws are conducted every month and see prizes up to £1,000,000 given away. To find out if you have ever won a Premium Bonds prize, you will need to dig out your holder’s information and head over to the prize checker.

You can also use your NS&I number which you should be able to find on any communication about your bonds.

The lucky Premium Bonds numbers from £1,000 up to £1million are published on the first working day of the month. That means if the first is a Saturday, Sunday or Bank Holiday you have to wait up to three days to learn of any good news.

Premium Bonds are a tax-free Government-backed savings scheme that allows savers to pit up to 50,000 bonds against a digital random prize picker called Ernie – Electronic Random Number Indicator Equipment.

Each bond costs £1 and entitles the owner one entry in the draw. The maximum holding is £50,000. Prizes range from £25 up to £1million.

The amount of the total fund paid out in prizes, is 4.4 per cent after slipping back from a 24 year high of 4.65 per cent. The odds of winning a prize are 21,000 to 1.
