The thrill of seeing one’s name emblazoned on something isn’t reserved just for 7-year-olds scoring mini license plates — everyone feels special unwrapping a gift created specifically for them. In that spirit, we’ve collected our favorite personalized gifts; many, like the bespoke Converse shoes and the personalized Yeti tumbler, are customizable versions of Wirecutter picks. Whether you want to have a gift monogrammed, custom-made, or personalized in another way, these gifts will show the recipient that you were truly thinking of them. Note that most personalized gifts take a little longer to ship.

Eliminate the great baggage carousel anxiety with these easy-to-spot personalized bag tags. Your giftee — and their plain black roller bag — will thank you. Available in a dozen colors, the 10-inch woven polypropylene Visitag Snap Bag Tag snaps around a luggage handle in two places, so a bag stands out from a procession of similar-looking suitcases. Customize the tag with embroidered text in up to 12 characters (maybe a traveler’s initials or a nickname) and in a different color than the strap’s hue. Inside, there’s a clear vinyl sleeve for contact details. And, because the tags can be personalized with any text and flags, they’re fun travel mementos, too (think: “Cortina 2026,” ). Collect them all!
Bridging the gap between useful and sentimental, these plain canvas totes from The Printed Gift can be printed with any meaningful note, letter, or missive. Gifts writer Samantha Schoech gave her mother-in-law one with the handwritten recipe card for her famous Blueberry Yum Yum. Just take a picture of the text you want printed, and the company will clean it up, position it, and send you a digital proof. The print area is 10 by 14 inches, so the end product will likely be larger than the original. Bags are printed on one side only, and if you prefer a pillow, a T-shirt, a tea towel, or other product, they make those too.
Who’s ball? Confusion will be a thing of the past when your recipient arrives at the court with their Wilson Custom Basketball. The standard indoor basketballs come in youth and adult sizes, from 5 to 7, and can be customized with up to three lines of 12 letters each or a small graphic (although the image choices are less exciting). Choose from an NCAA Evolution official game ball or the NCAA Evo Nxt, which includes some Caitlin Clark–themed pattern options for the logos. The custom balls do add up quickly — ours cost about $130 — and take eight to 10 weeks to ship.
This modern take on the sometimes fusty monogrammed canvas bag has design chops plus the sturdy materials and craftsmanship to back it up. Writer Samantha Schoech gave her chic 20-something niece one in taupe with a lilac monogram, and it went over extremely well. The Baublebar Custom Alpha Tote comes in three sizes, from a daily purse to a bag big enough for a laptop, water bottle, and more. Choose from eight colors for the cotton canvas body and 13 for the bold, bag-size two- or three-letter monogram. The bags have an exterior key hook, an interior zip pocket, and a snap closure. It works well as a diaper bag, a gym bag, or just any everyday tote, but we do wish the straps on the small size were longer so it could be slung over a shoulder.
More than survival structures, houses are often the places where people build memories, raise children into adults, and tighten family bonds. You can honor your loved ones’ special place simply and powerfully with MyDaVinci Custom House Portraits. Just submit a high-res image of the house to MyDaVinci and choose an artistic medium (watercolor, pencil sketch, oil painting) that would suit your giftee. In a few days, you’ll get a proof for approval or the opportunity to request changes. When editor Hannah Morrill got a small watercolor of the family cabin (pictured above), it became a talking point for admiring visitors.
Rebels for a week may get a kick out of Inkbox Tattoos, which come in a wide variety of designs. But for particularly artistic types, you can get one of the simple blue-ink temporary tattoos custom-made by either uploading an illustration or typing out text in a font of your choice. They come in six sizes, ranging from small (2 by 2 inches) to extra wide (7 by 2 inches). After the tattoo is applied to the skin for about an hour (so that the ink sinks in), it will last up to 10 days, but it can also be gently rubbed off with an exfoliant if your giftee wants to remove it sooner.
Your loved one need not be a whiskey drinker to appreciate a Home Town Map Riedel Crystal Rocks Glass. Made with lead-free crystal in Austria, the 13-ounce Riedel glass could certainly hold water, juice, or a prebiotic soda. But more notably, you can have it etched with a map of your chosen US city or town. To select the locale for the engraving, type a name in the Etsy seller’s drop-down menu or use coordinates if the name doesn’t auto-populate. You can also add custom text to the side and bottom.
One of our picks for the best women’s white T-shirts, the Sézane Conrad is made of cool, light 100% organic cotton and has a relaxed crewneck shape. The long, breezy crew is available in sizes XXS to XXXL and several colors beyond white, including green, rosewood, and thin blue stripes. While you can certainly nab a T-shirt for absurd prices these days, the Conrad is eminently reasonable, given its quality material, and adding an embroidered message of up to 10 characters or a symbol (heart or star) comes nicely free of charge.
If a major milestone, such as an anniversary or an engagement, is the cause for celebration, the Williams Sonoma Heart Mini Bottles will make your giftee’s toasts extra special. When we ordered them, we were impressed by the deeply cut etching in thick glass, with hearts accenting the gold debossed names. Each 6-ounce bottle of bubbly — right-sized for a couple of flutes — is etched with two first names and a date. Offered in packs of six, 12, or 24, the customized bottles are available for six different sparkling wines, including Moët & Chandon Champagne and La Marca prosecco.
The same types who would roll their eyes at the sight of monogrammed towels might lose their minds over a Happy Tooned portrait. The service offers custom illustrations in the style of about a dozen popular shows, including The Simpsons and Family Guy. Just choose the number of characters and a background, upload photos of the included people and pets, and note any desired details (particular clothing, poses, and so forth) in a message box. When we tested the service (see above), a mock-up came much faster than the promised 10 days, and the requested adjustments were turned around quickly. You can opt for either a digital file or a 12-by-16-inch unframed or framed poster. Our colleague Ana Paola Wong got a Bob’s Burgers version for her mom and said, “It’s joyful and easy to pick the photo and then work with the artists to hit the right vibe. Inside jokes and a shared love of a show can get corny, but it didn’t feel like that with this.”
Video manager Katie Quinn reports that Storyworth is the best gift she’s ever given her dad. The service is designed to help someone write their own life story. Weekly email prompts, including questions like “Do you have any regrets in your life?” or “What is one of your fondest childhood memories?” help them recall significant moments. At the end of a year, those answers, along with any personal photos or art, are bound into a quality hardcover book. If your giftee isn’t the type to keep up with email, it may not be the right choice, but it’ll be a joy (and a family keepsake) for those who are both in a stage of reflection and on top of their inbox.
Anyone who hails from, lives in, or frequents a small town knows that cool hometown merch is hard to find. But don’t despair: Hometown Apparel produces designs for nearly every town you can think of. Passumpsic, Vermont, population 1,663? Get a shirt. Jemez Springs, New Mexico, with 197 residents? Yep. We’re partial to the simple, collegiate look of the cotton-and-polyester-blend Classic Crewneck Sweatshirt, which comes in four colors and sizes XS to 4XL. If your loved one’s hamlet isn’t there, you can create a custom option using the site’s easy design tool. The sweatshirts run small, so we suggest ordering a size up. Hannah had Long Lake, Maine, sweatshirts made for her family as a homage to a favorite summer spot; four years on, they’re sumptuously soft and faded.
It doesn’t get more personal than a Funko Pop Yourself figure in one’s image. The website’s easy-to-use module offers a range of choices in skin tone, hairstyles, outfits, accessories, and, for an additional fee, pets. Wirecutter product testing coordinator Leslie Grisdale and her husband were delighted to receive a pair, complete with wine bottle and whisk, from her mother-in-law.
The dainty Sterling Silver Name Ring by Etsy seller GoldPersonalized is so much nicer than its price suggests. It can be worn alone or stacked with other rings. It comes in sterling silver and yellow, white, or rose gold plate. You can also have it personalized with a name or any meaningful word. A gift box is included with each order, which takes about two weeks to arrive.
These Williams Sonoma Monogrammed Steak Brand are made by a Texas cattle rancher, so you know they’re authentic. They’re the exact same style as the ones used on livestock, but at about a foot long with letters just 1.25 inches high, and they’re sized for the backyard cookout, not the open range. Choose from one to three letters for each brand, and it comes with a wall mount. Simply heat the iron using hot coals, a gas range, or an electric burner and then leave your charred impression. It will mark meat, leather, and even wood (be careful of fire, please).
This gift may seem a little gimmicky, but writer Samantha Schoech has one sitting on a shelf in her living room, and every single person who comes over picks it up and looks through the baby pictures of her twins. Each Image 3D RetroViewer comes with an order code for one DIY reel, and it will still show your old reels, should you have any kicking around. It took Samantha about 20 minutes to upload seven photos, edit as desired, and create her own reel. However, it took over two weeks for the reel to arrive, so build in some time if you want to give the reel and viewfinder together. Additional reels can be ordered individually — meaning you could gift new ones for every vacation, birth, or impressive meal.
The world lost something beautiful when everyone lost the ability to send subtle but meaningful messages to each other via obsessed-over mixtapes. Enter the new era of heartfelt song exchange, by way of this Spotify Customizable Playlist Keyring. Simply send in the URL of a song or playlist from Spotify (Apple Music and YouTube links also work) that expresses your feelings, and the company will engrave a code onto a stainless steel keychain that your special giftee can then scan and play on their phone. The tags are slightly smaller than a stick of gum and are available in black, silver, rose or yellow gold.
Constructed of poke-, rip-, and waterproof polyester in Carhartt’s signature sienna, the Carhartt Foundry Series Embroidered Tool Tote is a great light-duty carryall for the handyperson you love. (If your gift recipient heads to a worksite every day, they’ll probably want something more rugged.) This bag, outfitted with six interior loops and six exterior pockets, is excellent for home projects. For the two lines of personalization, you could go with traditional monogramming, but if your craftsperson rolls their eyes at formality, a tongue-in-cheek nickname or inside joke might be in order.
Friends brimming with hometown pride or nostalgia might appreciate Map Marketing’s My Hometown Personalized Puzzle. The image on this custom-printed, 400-piece puzzle covers 7.5 miles east–west by 5 miles north–south around a US address. When the puzzle arrives, don’t be alarmed by the box’s generic map image; included inside the box is a folded, full-color map, so puzzle-solvers have something to follow. Note to anyone lucky enough to live near a big body of water: It will have a lot of extra-challenging solid blue.
We first realized that chickens were hot when our article on raising chickens went gangbusters back in the early days of the pandemic. If someone on your list is the steward of a brood, World of Jay Design’s Personalized Vintage Egg Stamp, available on Zazzle, will surprise and delight. We like this vintage-style version, which you can customize with your pal’s name or their farm’s moniker. Getting the hang of stamping a spherical object takes a little practice, but once they nail it, they’ll never want to distribute a dozen without the stamps.
This custom beauty from Papier isn’t one of our picks in our guide to the best notebooks, but it sparks joy in a variety of meaningful ways. The Papier Hardback Notebook offers a two-tone cover (available in several color combos) and monogramming at the top (in multiple colors, fonts, and sizes), so you can craft the right vibe for whoever is on your list. And with its 96 pages of lined, plain, or bullet-dotted paper, they’ll have plenty of creative space to draft the perfect thank-you note, with no ink feathering or page bleed-through.
Embroidering a baseball cap elevates it from sun shield and dirty-hair disguiser to style statement. Writer Dorie Chevlen has given and received great VistaPrint hats, which are high-quality and surprisingly affordable. Encompassing more than 10 hat colors, nearly 50 choices for embroidery thread, and dozens of fonts and text sizes, the options on VistaPrint’s Flexfit 6-Panel Baseball Cap are almost overwhelming.
Hannah first spotted these at a pal’s house in Miami, where a can of LaCroix felt luxurious served atop a conch-shell-and-surname-embossed napkin. Though the website looks a little industrial, American Stationery’s DYO Color Beverage Napkins are notably absorbent, soft, and durable, and customizing them is a cinch. First, select the color of the napkin itself; then, choose the size, color, and font of the text. (Hannah’s friend chose white with orange ink.) Add a relevant “motif,” or clip art, and behold the impact of a simple pack of paper napkins.
You know the day that matters most to your gift recipient: Maybe it was the day they were born, the day they married you, or even just the day they submitted the 400-page dissertation that earned them a PhD. Whatever it is, the Night Sky Museum Grade Print — depicting the stars aligned exactly as they were at that location on that date — is a beautiful gift for both its celestial image and the emotional resonance. The image is printed on museum-quality paper or stretched canvas with fade-resistant archival ink, and it’s available in several colors, plus a glow-in-the-dark option. You can also include the location, the date, and a personal message for the text underneath the constellation.
Your circle of family and friends undoubtedly includes a bunch of characters, so why not immortalize their cartoon likenesses with Uncommon Goods’s Personalized Family Mugs? Think of each mug as a ceramic homage that doubles as a vessel for delivering 15 ounces of one’s beverage of choice. Take advantage of Uncommon Goods’s myriad illustration templates — which span more than 40 characters, plus several skin tones, hair colors, and clothing accent colors — to design the perfect mug for your gift recipient. Reviewers love that this novelty gift is sweetly made and sparks joy with every sip.
What could be more custom than a pair of socks featuring one’s own face — or, better yet, the face of someone they love? The answer is: not much. And to that end, DivvyUp is one of the easiest services to use. Upload an image of a beloved visage and then select a background color or print. A couple of weeks later, face socks will arrive on your gift recipient’s doorstep. Depending on the intended recipient, consider different mugs. A friend from work? Maybe it’s their particularly hilarious ID photo. A pal from high school? Use the yearbook photo they nearly forgot about. Your doggy co-parent? Fido, obviously. Made from a durable blend of polyester, nylon, and spandex, these socks are stretchy and soft, and they hold up well.
For people who put their pets on an emotional pedestal, Crown & Paw’s Custom Pet Canvas portraits can visually elevate an animal’s rank to royalty. Whether the pet is a pig, puppy, chicken, or cat, Crown & Paw can swiftly re-create a 19th-century or Renaissance-era portrait in their likeness. One Wirecutter staffer was deeply impressed with the quality of these prints, noting how well the image captured their dog’s goofiness and brindle coat.
DaniqueJewelry’s Minimalistic Birthstones Bracelets, available on Etsy, are pleasing in their simplicity, featuring a dainty silver or gold-filled chain of varying lengths to fit your gift recipient’s wrist size. Maybe you’ll select just one gem — your recipient’s birthstone, perhaps. Or, if you’re buying for a romantic partner, consider adding both of your birthstones. Dorie has this bracelet with a blue topaz and a moonstone, which represent the birth months of her parents, plus a citrine gem for her three siblings (who, like her, were all born in November). She wears it whenever she needs a simple accessory or wants to feel connected to them.
Artifact Uprising, Wirecutter’s pick for the best photo book for gifting, offers an artful and streamlined way to make a true keepsake. Six trim sizes and only a handful of interior page layouts work as guardrails to ensure that the final product is elegant and legible. The linen-bound book comes in 10 colors, with the option of a dust jacket, and the matte paper is thick and toothy. If you’re looking for more photo-gift inspiration, check out our guide to other personalized photo gifts we love.
A Wirecutter runner-up for a particularly sturdy tumbler, the 20-ounce Yeti Rambler Tumbler is great. Yeti makes customizations easy: Add text or monogramming in a variety of fonts and colors, pick a design from among Yeti’s collection (including sports logos, Greek letters, and some inoffensive clip art), or upload your own black-and-white image. The customizable area is relatively generous — all the better for adding a meaningful quote, an inside joke, or detailed lost-and-found contact information.
One of our picks for the best white sneakers, Converse’s Chuck Taylor All Star low-tops are also especially customizable, allowing you to choose the colors and prints for the inside and outside body, the tongue, the eyelets, the laces, the rubber, and every other part of the shoe. You can also have them embroidered with up to six letters on the outside low rear or on the heel stripe. Initials on the heel stripe are a stylistically safe bet when you are giving a gift.
We love finding gifts that are unusual, thoughtful, and well vetted. See even more gift ideas we recommend.
