The regular season of Major League Baseball ended yesterday, except for the Mets and the Braves, who were rained out of two games last week by Hurricane Helene. They play a doubleheader today in Atlanta to decide which of them, or possibly both, continue into the National League playoffs. If they split today’s games, they both advance. If either is swept, they go home and the Arizona Diamondbacks get the other playoff berth.
