A 58-year-old man punched out on a Bronx sidewalk has died more than a month later — and his accused attacker could now face more serious charges, police said Wednesday.
The victim was punched in the head on W. Mosholu Parkway North near Jerome Ave. in Norwood about 5 p. m. Aug. 4.
Police said a witness reported seeing the punch, with the victim falling to the sidewalk.
Medics rushed the victim to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he died on Saturday. His name has not yet been released.
Dequan Jackson, 29, was arrested the day of the attack for misdemeanor assault and harassment.
The city Medical Examiner has deemed the death a homicide and Jackson could now face upgraded charges. He was released without bail after his arraignment and is due back in Bronx Criminal Court Sept. 17.
Jackson has 10 other arrests on his record, including on Tuesday for driving without a license on Staten Island, cops said.
