Harvey Weinstein rushed to Bellevue for emergency surgery

Former movie mogul Harvey Weinstein was reportedly rushed from Rikers Island to Bellevue Hospital for emergency heart surgery, his lawyer confirmed Tuesday.

The 72-year-old sex offender complained of chest pains Monday, ABC News reported.

“He wasn’t feeling well yesterday, he let us know and we let Rikers and Bellevue know and convinced them to rush him to Bellevue yesterday,” Weinstein’s lawyer Arthur Aidala told The Daily News. “He was operated on today. It has to do with his heart. That’s all I know.”

Weinstein is due in court this week as Manhattan prosecutors seek to re-open two of the sex crime convictions an appellate court overturned in April.

Weinstein was sentenced to 23 years behind bars in February 2020 after being convicted on felony charges. Prosecutors said in July they planned to retry the case against the infamous producer. Weinstein was found guilty of three more sex crimes counts in Los Angeles in December of 2022.

This story is still developing.
