Beyoncé’s ‘Cowboy Carter’ shut out of CMA Awards nominations

Beyoncé country-flavored “Cowboy Carter” album received zero CMA Awards nominations.

Despite capturing the top spot on the Billboard country music chart in April — making her the first Black woman to accomplish that feat — Beyoncé couldn’t shatter the CMA’s streak of 58 years without nominating a Black woman for its top award.

The CMA website says album of the year nominees are judged “on all aspects including, but not limited to, artist’s performance, musical background, engineering, packaging, design, art, layout and liner notes.”

No one has scored more Grammy Awards than Beyonce, who’s been nominated 88 times and won 32 trophies.

Morgan Wallen led the pack with seven CMA Awards nominations. First-time nominee Post Malone, who performs on “Cowboy Carter,” was nominated in four categories for his work with Wallen.

Country stars Dolly Parton and Willie Nelson also appear on Beyonce’s crossover album.
