The kitchen is an important part of any home, it is the place where we prepare and cook our food.
It can also be great for socialising with other household members, chatting away and cooking together.
However, this area is particularly vulnerable to the build-up of nasty bacteria, some of which could even be deadly.
You must know which areas of your kitchen require extra attention when cleaning, as they’ve even been known to be dirtier than the average toilet seat.
Thankfully a property expert has come to the rescue. Joshua Houston at Household Quotes has revealed the areas of your kitchen that contain the most bacteria.
The kitchen sink is a common place for bacteria to build, this is due to it being one of the most used components in your kitchen.
It’s where people tend to wash foods, including meats, fruits and vegetables which can lead to contamination.
Plates, utensils and pans are washed here and is another way nasty bacteria can get around your sink bowl.
This area needs to be cleaned at least once a day, it requires strong chemicals to get rid of the harmful bacteria, as that being ingested by someone could be deadly.
Meanwhile, when it comes to washing up, you have to use a sponge to ensure your dishes and utensils are nice and clean.
However, this leads to nasty bacteria being transmitted to the sponge which will be used on every single piece of equipment.
So change your sponge regularly, ideally every week. It should also be rinsed out after every use to make sure it doesn’t become nasty.
Houston said: “A hygienic kitchen is crucial for healthy living, follow my tips and ensure you clean the areas of your kitchen that otherwise might’ve been forgotten.
“You might already clean these areas, but it could be the case of cleaning them more regularly.
“Bad bacteria can also make your kitchen smell bad, making it an unpleasant place to hang around.”
