Jamie Oliver has shared a brilliant tip for how to repurpose leftover coffee and avoid waste. If you find yourself with excess coffee from your morning ritual, whether it’s made from ground beans or granules, Jamie’s culinary team suggests a clever trick to ensure you savour every last bit.
Anna, a member of Jamie’s food team, recommends that coffee enthusiasts should start freezing their surplus coffee. In a recent Instagram update, Jamie urged his followers: “Stop chucking the leftover coffee from your pot down the sink and whack it in an ice cube tray instead! @annahelmbaxter from my food team fully has me converted here cos she’s so right – no one likes watered down coffee and it’s my main issue with iced coffee ha ha. And those caramel swirls ….come on! Let me know in the comments if you give these a try xxx (FYI the reason you warm the milk slightly is so the coffee flavour immediately comes through + the frothy top adds a nice texture).”
In the accompanying video, Anna explains: “No one likes watered down coffee, that’s why I’m taking the extra coffee in my pot and I’m freezing it in ice cubes.”
To elevate your next iced coffee experience, Anna gently warms and froths some milk in a saucepan, then drizzles a caramel swirl into a glass. She fills the glass with the frozen coffee cubes, pours over the frothy milk, and indulges in the result, reports the Mirror.
Jamie’s fans were left in awe by his clever drink hack, with Maggie posting: “Leftover coffee? What’s that? But that’s a great idea, so will make extra coffee and freeze it. Don’t think I’ll be adding caramel though.”
@apj2108 exclaimed: “Wow this looks incredible! ! This coffee fan can’t wait to try it! !”
@lifewiththeduchess shared the excitement, saying, “I feel like a need to make a pot of coffee just to do this, why hadn’t we thought of this before,” and Holly enthused, “LOVE this! ! I’ve made it – it’s Insane! ! The Perfect Summer Coffee! ! Bliss! ! “.
