PlayStation Plus subscribers are counting down the minutes until Sony unveils the next wave of PS Plus Essentials for September 2024. The free PS4 and PS5 games will be officially unveiled at 4.30pm BST UK time on the afternoon of August 28. The games will be available to download and play less than a week later on the morning of September 3. The new games will replace the existing line-up, which consists of LEGO Star Wars The Skywalker Saga, Five Nights at Freddy’s Security Breach and Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knights. If you haven’t already done so, then redeem the aforementioned games for free before next week, or risk missing out. Daily Express will keep this article updated with the full list of new games once they are announced, plus any early leaks and speculation.
As for the September line-up, one game has already been announced ahead of this week’s full reveal.
Harry Potter Quidditch Champions will be available to PS Plus Essential subscribers from September 3 until October 1.
Playable solo or with friends via online multiplayer, Quidditch Champions lets fans play in a variety of different positions, including Chaser, Seeker, Keeper and Beater
According to the development team, the game features a selection of legendary Quidditch arenas, as well as “maps that showcase never-before-seen areas of the wizarding world”.
Although the game features popular characters from the Harry Potter series of books and films, it looks like there will be a heavy customisation element.
The game will be available at full price from October 1, so it might be worth subscribing for a month, just to see if it’s your kind of game.
The other two games remain something of a mystery, although fans posting on Reddit think they have a pretty good idea about what to expect.
The overwhelming favourite to join PS Plus is third-person action game Atomic Heart, which is leaving Xbox Game Pass at the end of August. This has led to speculation that it’s bound for PlayStation Plus in September.
Despite middling reviews at launch, Atomic Heart has gained something of a cult following, to the point that it now boasts a ‘Very Positive’ score on Steam.
Other games featured in the predictions list include Gris, Sonic Frontiers, Dead Space, WWE 2K24, Forspoken, and Suicide Squad.
That’s on top of first-person puzzle game Viewfinder, as well as Like a Dragon Ishin, Far Cry 6, Resident Evil Village, any number of LEGO games, Little Nightmares 2 and Hot Wheels Unleashed 2.
