We are adding more housing for all New Yorkers

“Back-to-back years.” That’s what Mayor Adams announced with us outside of Melrose North, a 171-unit supportive housing development in the Bronx. For two consecutive years, our administration broke records for creating and preserving, and connecting New Yorkers to affordable housing. The success was largely possible because we had a clear directive from the mayor: tear down silos and build bridges to meet the moment in front of us. Our housing crisis has reached the breaking point: a historic vacancy rate — 1.4% — and half of all New Yorker renters paying more than 30% of their income for rent.
