MTA bus driver being investigated for deadly Queens hit-and-run

Police are investigating a deadly hit-and-run that left a 31-year-old woman dead after she was struck by an MTA bus in Queens, cops said Friday.

Mishael Keys Amesha was crossing Bedell Street in Rochdale around 10:36 p.m. Aug. 6 when she was struck by a Q85 bus turning left off of Baisley Blvd. onto the southbound thoroughfare, cops said.

Paramedics rushed Keys Amesha, who lived about a block away from where she was struck, to Jamaica Hospital. She died two hours later, cops said.

An MTA spokesperson identified the operator of the Q85 bus that struck Keys Amesha as Michele Washington.

Washington did not remain on the scene, cops said.

The MTA has suspended Washington — who has driven for NYC Transit since Apr. 24, 2022 — pending an NYPD investigation into the crash.

“[There’s] a huge hole in New York’s heart whenever we have a person lost, especially in a mass transit accident, but it’s under investigation,” said MTA Chair Janno Lieber. “That’s the way we handle it.”

No arrests have been made.
