Giants rookie RB Tyrone Tracy Jr. suffers non-contact injury during kickoff drill

Giants rookie running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. suffered what looked like a major right foot/ankle/lower leg injury at Tuesday’s practice on a kickoff drill.

It was a non-contact injury as Tracy reached for a football after a muffed kick. Trainers and doctors put an aircast on his leg immediately and drove him off on the cart. Tracy was understandably emotional.

Veteran Devin Singletary said Tracy wasn’t playing like a rookie.

“He was playing a second, third year vet,” Singletary said after practice.

Tracy was a fifth round pick out of Purdue. The Giants let Saquon Barkley sign with the Philadelphia Eagles in free agency.

Their current healthy running back room includes Singletary, second-year draft pick Eric Gray, undrafted rookie Dante Miller, who is dealing with a hamstring injury, and new rookie signing Lorenzo Lingard.

This is a developing story, check back for details
