PlayStation Plus subscribers are about to find out the new games coming to PS Plus Extra and Premium in August. Sony will officially announce the next wave of PS Plus Extra and Premium games at 4.30pm BST UK time on August 14. The games will be available to download and play less than a week later, on the morning of August 20. Based on previous months, subscribers can expect around a dozen PS4 and PS5 PlayStation Plus Extra games, and another three or four retro/VR games in the Premium tier.
In the run up to the big reveal, subscribers have been attempting to predict the next batch of games over on Reddit.
In the monthly predictions thread, multiple people believe Robocop Rogue City will join PS Plus Extra in August.
Developed by Teyon and published by Nacon, Robocop Rogue City is a surprisingly decent first-person shooter starring the cybernetic police officer.
Featuring hard-hitting combat, top-notch visuals and Peter Weller reprising his role as Robocop, the game was well received at launch. However, the fact that it only launched last November makes me think that it might be too soon for a PS Plus Extra release.
Taking place in 1860s Japan, Like a Dragon Ishin also features heavily on the list. Players control the swordsman Sakamoto Ryoma, who travels to Kyoto to find his father’s killer. In addition to a captivating story, Like a Dragon Ishin features all of the side content and mini-games you would expect from the series, just not the SEGA arcade games.
Dead Island 2 is another game with lots of predictions, alongside Sonic Frontiers, Forspoken and Resident Evil Village.
With Resident Evil 2 the only game from the series to appear on PS Plus Extra, it certainly feels like now is the time for Village to make its debut.
There are also countless predictions for the likes of Hades, especially with the sequel making its debut in early access over on Steam.
Developed by the team behind Bastion and Transistor, Hades is a roguelike action game in which players attempt to escape from the underworld.
“Wield the powers and mythic weapons of Olympus to break free from the clutches of the god of the dead himself, while growing stronger and unravelling more of the story with each unique escape attempt,” reads the official description.
“Aided by his extended family – that just so happen to include Zeus, Athena and other gods of Olympus – Zagreus’s efforts are boosted with temporary buffs (known as Boons) that can be selected to suit your playstyle, and permanent upgrades that can be obtained during each play-through.”
Other games on the list include Cult of the Lamb, Star Wars Jedi Survivor, LEGO Harry Potter, Superheat, Viewfinder, Overcooked, Goat Simulator 3, Valkyrie Elysium, Divinity Original Sin, Madden NFL 24, Powerslaved Exhumed and What the Golf.
We’ll find out for sure when Sony makes the announcement on August 14.
