Investigators have arrested a woman dressed in a black-and-white striped “Jurassic Park” tank top and shorts who is suspected of sucker-punching an 89-year-old woman in the face in an unprovoked attack in the West Village last month, police said Saturday.
Brittney Bullock, 30, was grabbed by NYPD Warrants Squad cops at her Brooklyn home after she was identified in connection with the July 10 attack near the corner of Seventh Ave. and W. 11th St.
The senior was approaching the corner at about 8:50 a.m. when the younger woman approached her.
She didn’t say a thing as she ran up and socked her victim in the right eye, causing the older woman to fall to the ground, cops said. The attacker, carrying a black-and-white handbag, ran off and was last seen heading west along Bank St.
The senior suffered a bruise to the face and was taken to Lenox Health Greenwich Village, where she was treated and released.
Detectives searching the area recovered video surveillance near the scene and released the image of the woman to the media hoping someone would recognize her.
On Thursday, cops tracked her down to her Prospect Heights apartment, about seven miles from where the attack took place, and took her into custody without incident.
Cops charged her with assault and possession of stolen property, but it wasn’t immediately clear if the stolen property was taken during the attack.
Her arraignment in Manhattan Criminal Court was pending.
Unprovoked attacks in the city are on the rise this year, with five occurring in 10 days in May, police said.
In an unrelated incident on Aug. 2, an 82-year-old woman collecting cans on a Bronx street was viciously assaulted by a man and a woman in an unprovoked attack, cops said.
The victim was hunting for recyclables along E. 212th St. near White Plains Road in Williamsbridge at about seven p.m. when the pair came upon her and shoved and began to beat on the woman.
The suspects in the Bronx attack remained at large Saturday.
