Sky launches Google Pixel 8 deal at 'lowest price ever' – but there's a warning

If you’re in the market for a quality smartphone without the hefty price tag, Google’s Pixel 8a is a strong contender. This mid-tier Android device boasts a vibrant 6.1-inch display with a rapid 120Hz refresh rate for ultra-smooth scrolling. It offers long battery life and quick charging, and it’s powered by the same Tensor G3 processor found in Google’s more premium Pro phones.

The phone features an under-display fingerprint scanner, stereo speakers, wireless charging, and it’s encased in durable Gorilla Glass to withstand the rigours of daily use. The 8a also comes with a smart camera system that not only captures sharp photos but can also remove unwanted objects and automatically retouch images using advanced AI.

This impressive gadget usually retails at £499 (currently £419 in Google’s sale). If that’s too steep for a one-off payment, Sky might have the solution. The company’s mobile platform is offering the Pixel 8a at its ‘lowest ever’ price, meaning you can get your hands on one for as little as £16 per month.

Sky is also running a promotion on the more powerful Pixel 8, with customers able to snap up this 6.2-inch device for just £19 per month.

Both of these deals are based on a 36-month contract and come with only 100MB of data, so you may need to pay a bit extra if you frequently stream films and browse the internet on your phone.

These are all epic offers but they do come with a warning. Google has confirmed that its new Pixel 9 devices will arrive next week and include an upgraded Pro model along with an all-new Pixel 9 Pro Fold which opens like a book to reveal a giant tablet-style screen. Along with being far more powerful than the Pixel 8 range, Google is teasing that they will also be far smarter thanks to the new Gemini assistant.

We are also expecting improved cameras, new design and better battery life to feature as well. The main launch is on August 13 and if you love all things Android watch this space. As well as Sky, retailer Mobiles.co.uk has a handful of Pixel 8 offers, and plans with cheaper upfront costs.
