Groundhog rescued from claw machine game at Pennsylvania arcade

A groundhog was rescued this week from a claw machine game in the arcade of a Pennsylvania mini-golf course.

Employees of Meadows Family Fun Center in Duncansville, Blair County found the unusual prize among other items in one of the claw machines on Monday and called the Pennsylvania Game Commission.

State Game Warden Salvadore Zaffuto arrived and determined the animal had somehow gotten inside the machine but was now trapped among the toys.

As the groundhog scurried around behind the glass or blended in among the stuffed animals, the vending company was called to unlock the machine. The game warden was then able to capture the animal and safely release it back into the wild.

“Who doesn’t love the claw machine game? They have the best prizes! From a cute stuffed animal to a football, or maybe rubber duckies, or a groundhog… wait, a WHAT?” the game commission joked in a Facebook post Tuesday afternoon, confirming the groundhog had been unharmed in the incident.
