O’Sullivan cut a frustrated figure for most of the contest, as he stewed away in his chair in disbelief that he would miss the red by such a large margin.
Eurosport commentator Neal Foulds joked that O’Sullivan “took a chunk” out of his cue and he was seen inspecting it before he returned to the table, checking that it was not too badly damaged.
However, a replacement cue was not necessary and O’Sullivan secured his place in the third round of the World Open against Lyu Haotian.
