A man was shot and wounded sitting in a car on an East Harlem street Wednesday evening, police said.
The 44-year-old victim was sitting in a late-model Chevrolet Suburban on E. 116th St. near Park Ave. when the shooter approached the passenger side of the car just before 8:30 p.m., police and sources said.
The man pulled out a gun and fired off at least one shot, hitting the victim in the right armpit. After the gunfire rang out, the shooter took off on foot southbound on Park Ave., according to police.
Medics took the wounded man to Harlem Hospital where he was expected to survive.
There were no immediate arrests.
