Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison was arrested in Los Angeles on Friday night on suspicion of driving under the influence, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Addison was found asleep behind the wheel of a white Rolls-Royce that was blocking a lane on I-105, the highway patrol said.
The 22-year-old Addison was arrested at 11:36 p.m. local time following a DUI investigation, according to the agency, and released two hours later. His blood-alcohol concentration was not disclosed by authorities.
The arrest occurred a year after Addison was cited for driving 140 mph in a 55-mph zone in Minnesota last July. Addison attributed that incident to an emergency involving his dog and pleaded guilty to misdemeanor speeding, while a reckless driving charge was dismissed.
“I am going to learn from this and not repeat the behavior,” Addison said at the time. “I am truly sorry.”
Friday’s arrest happened less than two weeks after Vikings rookie cornerback Khyree Jackson was one of three people killed in a car crash in Maryland. Jackson, a fourth-round pick in April’s draft, was a passenger.
Alcohol may have been a factor in that collision, investigators said.
The Vikings made Addison a first-round pick out of USC in the 2023 draft. The 5-11 receiver totaled 70 catches for 911 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns as a rookie last season, despite the Vikings starting four different quarterbacks.
Addison is set to return as a focal point of a Vikings offense that is expected to roll out either journeyman Sam Darnold or rookie J.J. McCarthy at quarterback. Addison is part of a receiver room headlined by Justin Jefferson, the 2022 NFL Offensive Player of the Year who signed a record-setting four-year, $140 million extension last month.
Last week, Addison attended the Los Angeles premiere of the Netflix series “Receiver,” which features Jefferson as a subject.
